| | Provisional sum: A sum temporarily set by the tenderer in the bill of quantities and included in the contract price. It is used for the procurement of materials, equipment and services that are not yet determined or are unforeseeable at the time of signing the construction contract, for engineering changes that may occur during construction, for contract price adjustments when contractually agreed adjustment factors arise, and for costs such as claims and confirmed site instructions. In hotel projects, it is usually estimated at 10%–15% of the divisional and sub-divisional works cost. |
