The hotel water supply and drainage system optimization plan is a key approach to improving system performance and reducing operating costs. Optimization work should be carried out across four dimensions: syst…

Water Supply System Optimization: Zoning and Pressure Management

Water supply system optimization is a key part of hotel energy saving and consumption reduction. Optimization directions include: (1) Vertical zoning optimization: reasonably divide water supply zones according to building function and height to avoid energy waste caused by overpressure supply. For hotels with more than 200 guest rooms, it is recommended to use one zone every 10–15 floors, with independent variable-frequency water supply equipment for each zone; (2) Pressure-reducing valve optimization: use adjustable pressure-reducing valves instead of fixed-ratio pressure-reducing valves, so the downstream pressure can be fine-tuned according to actual water use conditions; (3) Pipe network layout optimization: use reverse-return layout or install flow balancing valves to ensure balanced pressure at each terminal water point; (4) Water pump variable-frequency optimization: use closed-loop PID control to automatically adjust pump speed according to pipe network pressure changes, reducing energy waste. The optimized water supply system not only achieves significant energy savings, but also reduces pipeline vibration and noise, improving guest room comfort.

Hot Water System Optimization: Circulation and Insulation

The hot water system is one of the subsystems with the largest energy consumption in hotels and has huge optimization potential. Main optimization measures: (1) Circulation system optimization: use reverse-return riser circulation + intelligent variable-frequency return pumps, automatically adjust circulation flow according to return water temperature, and avoid heat loss caused by over-circulation; (2) Insulation optimization: increase pipe insulation thickness from the conventional 30 mm to 50 mm (rubber-plastic material), and ensure insulation layers in pipe shafts, equipment floors and other areas are continuous and complete to reduce heat loss; (3) Heat source optimization: use a combined heating scheme of solar/heat pumps and gas boilers, giving priority to renewable energy; (4) Terminal optimization: use thermostatic mixing valves + branch pipe heat tracing to achieve precise temperature control while reducing ineffective hot water circulation. It is estimated that comprehensive optimization can reduce hot water system energy consumption by 25%–40%.

Drainage System Optimization: Venting and Odor Prevention

The core goals of drainage system optimization are to ensure smooth drainage, prevent odor backflow, and reduce blockage failure rates. Optimization points: (1) Venting system optimization: hotel buildings must be equipped with dedicated vent stacks, with diameter not less than 1/2 of the drainage stack, connected by H-type pipes every 2–3 floors. At the bottom turn of drainage stacks, large-radius elbows or pressure relief pipes should be used to prevent positive pressure impact at the bottom; (2) Floor drain optimization: guest room bathrooms should use deep water-seal odor-proof floor drains (water seal depth 80 mm), and public areas should use multi-channel floor drains + mechanical seal combined floor drains; (3) Drainage slope optimization: on the premise of meeting the minimum slope requirements of the code, appropriately increase the slope (recommended slope 2% for DN100 pipes and 3% for DN75 pipes) to improve self-cleaning capacity; (4) Kitchen drainage optimization: install three-stage grease traps + automatic oil-water separators, and clean regularly to prevent grease accumulation.

Intelligent Control System Optimization and Energy Efficiency Management

Intelligent control of water supply and drainage systems is an important means of achieving refined operational management. Optimization directions include: (1) Establish an integrated monitoring platform for water supply and drainage systems to monitor key parameters in real time, such as pump operating status, water tank levels, pipe network pressure, and water consumption; (2) Use big data analysis technology to analyze historical water use data, predict peak water demand, and optimize pump start-stop strategies; (3) Set up a leak detection system with flow sensors and acoustic wave detectors at key pipe sections to promptly identify and locate leak points and reduce water loss; (4) Realize remote automated control, remotely monitoring and adjusting system operating parameters through mobile APP or management platform. Intelligent control systems can improve the comprehensive energy efficiency of water supply and drainage systems by 15%–25% and reduce leakage losses by more than 50%.
